About Me

60th birthday 015I am an older single Mom who lives in Nebraska which is the middle state of the United States.  I love to write about my life, my past, my present and my future.  I also love to write about my life experiences and my faith.

The goal of this blog is to encourage others.  I want to share with other single parents that you really can make it, to help others through some of life’s most difficult storms.  I want the person facing a divorce to know that there is a good life awaiting them on the other side.  I want to encourage those battling an illness not to give up!   I know what a tough time life can be at times.  I have been there and done that in many situations.  I have had many wonderful adventures in my journey around this big blue marble we know as home.  I have survived surgeries, childbirth, adoption, a flooded basement, a large tornado, wind storms, blizzards, auto accidents, even an earthquake.  I have survived marriage and divorce, the loss of all my family of origin; Dad, Mom, Sister and Brother.  I have lived in Germany and Hong Kong, as well as the states of Nebraska, California, Alabama, Washington, Iowa, Texas, and Kansas.  I have a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree and I still can’t find a job.  But God has been good to me and faithful in keeping me alive and grounded!  So grab a cup of tea or coffee and let’s spend a few minutes together.

Life is tough for most but we are not alone, even though we feel alone sometimes.  There is always someone who has gone before us and dealt with what we are facing.  We can encourage each other in our journey on this planet.

May Flowers 056I remember in college, years ago, we were asked to write our own epitaph for our tombstone when we die.  We were to sum up our whole life into one sentence or phrase.  I think of this epitaph often as it really does identify me as a person.  I roll with the punches and try not to stay down too often.  Here it is, feel free to quote me:

If it’s not an A, it’s a B!

  1. It has been a long time since we have seen each other, but I have often thought of George and remember when we were in high school he carried me up the stairs to the 2nd floor when I was on crutches. I remember one time when we were playing Bridgeport in football. I was playing guard and George was playing tackle. The player across from me was more than I could handle and George suggested we both take him one. After the ball was snapped the next thing I remember is George and I side by side on our backs with legs in the air. George was always fun to be with. I don’t remember your sister, but I remember your parents. They were very nice people. I remember my dad commenting that he really liked your dad. (Which meant your dad was a good man.) You do your family good!

    1. It is so good to hear from you Bill. Yes George was a good brother and friend and always loved to laugh! I miss him too. My Dad thought a lot of your Dad too and our Mom’s were good friends also. The older I get the more I appreciate our little church family that we grew up with. Thanks for checking in and for the encouragement!
